Solid, dark and quietly steadying.
For an entrance, a workspace or a meditation corner: a 7 × 7 × 6 cm pyramid of natural black tourmaline, dense and deep black. It is the stone people most often reach for with protection and grounding intentions, especially when a home or office feels scattered or heavy with negative energy.
Why it is chosen
- Tradition places it at the root chakra, with the solar plexus second, under Saturn and the earth element.
- Often chosen for entryways, shared offices and busy homes where people want calm, clear boundaries.
- A steady, orderly piece that asks for nothing dramatic and suits regular, intentional use.
How to use it
- Place it near the main entrance, at your workspace or in a meditation corner; in vastu, the main door is where energy enters a home.
- Sit grounded and let each exhale run long, in for 6 and out for 8, for 15 to 30 minutes.
- Use it with intention rather than all day, every day, and refresh it with the sound of a bell or bowl.
Is it right for you
Anyone moving into a new home, setting up an office near a busy door, or wanting a steadier entryway.
If you want the same stone at the doorway itself rather than on a table, the Black Tourmaline Hanging can hang just inside the entrance. See it here.

Care
Black tourmaline is robust, but keep it away from water and salt and wipe it with a soft dry cloth. It is heavier than it looks, so lift it with both hands and give it a firm, level spot. Store it on a natural surface clear of clutter and electronics, and cleanse it traditionally with breath or the sound of a singing bowl.
Questions
Is this real black tourmaline?
Yes. Every piece is lab tested and certified, and once your order arrives you can look up its certificate with your order number on our Lab Certificates page.
Will a black tourmaline pyramid protect my home?
We make no protection claims. It is a grounding object and a daily reminder to hold calm, clear boundaries.
Where should I place black tourmaline for negative energy?
Most people choose the main entrance, a workspace or a meditation corner. Keep it on a steady surface where it is seen but not knocked.
Can I put it in water to cleanse it?
No. Use your breath or the sound of a bell or singing bowl instead; water and salt are best avoided.

The story of this piece
Broad base, clear edges.
A small, dark, square-based form to rest your eyes on while you decide where your yes ends and your no begins.
Keep this small black tourmaline pyramid beside the laptop or near the phone, where requests tend to arrive. Before you answer one, look at it from base to point and decide how much of your week you can give; the shape makes no promise, and the decision is yours.

Why this piece
Light resting on black faces
- Natural black tourmalineShaped into a small pyramid, with no chemical treatment.
- Deep black, opaqueLight rests on its faces rather than passing into the stone, so the form reads dark and clean.
- Palm-sizedA mini pyramid of approximately 2.5 cm, at home beside a keyboard or in the hand.

Stone intelligence
Black tourmaline, kept small
Black tourmaline, known to mineralogists as schorl, is the iron-rich black member of the tourmaline group. It is opaque, so its colour stays a deep, even black from every side.
- GroundingBefore you stand up from a long call, feel the weight of your feet on the floor for three breaths.
- Letting go of angerWhen anger rises, name in one sentence what it is trying to protect, then decide what to do.
- Personal boundariesLeave one evening this week entirely unbooked, and keep it that way when someone asks.
Themes from Robert Simmons, The Pocket Book of Stones. Reflections are KUSHA's own.
A pyramid stands because its base is wider than its point. Decide what you will hold before you decide what you will reach for.

A quiet pause
Where the line falls today
- Rest the pyramid on a stable, dry surface and take in its whole form. There is no need to point it at the body.
- Pause, and breathe at your ordinary, comfortable pace.
- Ask yourself: “What is one boundary I can communicate respectfully today?”
- Write one concrete action within your control.
- Close with gratitude. Stop or skip the practice whenever you choose.
“I say what I can give, and I say where I stop.”

Spiritual themes and traditions
All eight spiritual themes from Robert Simmons's black tourmaline entry, each with an original KUSHA reflection.
- Spiritual protection. Before you open your inbox, decide which one message deserves your best attention today.
- Purification intention. At the end of the week, clear the desk down to the wood and begin Monday with it bare.
- Grounding. Before you stand up from a long call, feel the weight of your feet on the floor for three breaths.
- Environmental harmony. Switch off one screen or speaker that runs in the background for no one.
- Releasing self-judgement. Speak to yourself about one mistake in the words you would use for a colleague.
- Letting go of anger. When anger rises, name in one sentence what it is trying to protect, then decide what to do.
- Recognising self-worth. Quote your fee, or state your view, once, without adding an apology.
- Personal boundaries. Leave one evening this week entirely unbooked, and keep it that way when someone asks.

Questions
Is this real black tourmaline?
Yes, with no chemical treatment, as declared. Every piece is lab tested and certified, and your certificate comes with your order.
How big is it?
It is a mini pyramid of approximately 2.5 cm, small enough to hold in your palm or keep beside a keyboard. Each natural piece varies a little.
Will it protect my home or desk?
We make no such promise, for the stone or for its shape. It is a small, steady object to look at while you decide on a limit; what you do with that decision is the part that counts.
My Mulank is not 8. Can I still keep it?
Of course. These affinities are symbolism from named traditions, never restrictions.
