A dark, steady weight by the door.
A dense black sphere of tourmaline, 60 mm across and hand-polished to a smooth, architectural finish. Long known in crystal tradition as a protection stone, black tourmaline is often kept near the front door when people want a home to feel grounded and settled. We offer it without fear stories: simply a steady, dark presence the eye returns to.
Why it is chosen
- Traditionally associated with the root chakra, the base of stability, and with Saturn and the earth element.
- Often chosen for entrances, hallways and the desk of anyone who feels scattered by a busy day.
- Its solid darkness gives a pale room a visual anchor, especially against white walls and marble floors.
How to use it
- Place it near the main door, on a hall shelf or on a desk you return to each day.
- When you come home or sit down to work, pause, steady your breath and let your eyes settle on the stone.
- Choose a spot where a swinging door or a passing bag cannot knock it.
Is it right for you
New homeowners, people who work from home, and anyone who wants their entrance to feel calm and grounded.
If your doorway has no shelf or table to hold a sphere, the Black Tourmaline Hanging carries the same stone from a hook. See it here.

Care
Black tourmaline is a robust stone and asks for very little: a soft dry cloth now and then keeps the dust off. Being heavy, it should be lifted with both hands and kept on a stable, padded base, well back from the edge of a shelf. For a traditional cleanse, set it in moonlight on an indoor sill overnight.
Questions
Where should I place a black tourmaline crystal ball?
Near the main entrance is the most common choice. In vastu, the south-west is linked with earth and stability, so some keep it there instead.
Does black tourmaline protect from negative energy?
It is traditionally known as a protection stone, and many people keep it with that intention. We make no warding claims: think of it as a grounding focal point for your home.
Is this real black tourmaline?
Yes. Every piece is lab tested and certified, and once your order arrives you can look up its certificate with your order number on our Lab Certificates page.
The Pocket Book of Stones。
