Meaning
Rainbow Moonstone meaning
Despite its name, rainbow moonstone is a white form of labradorite, a feldspar cousin of true moonstone, milky and pale, with a blue or many-coloured flash that appears only at certain angles. The flash comes from light reflecting between very thin layers inside the stone, which is why it travels across the surface as you tilt it. For the KUSHA canon this is the stone of feminine intuition, set at the Third Eye with the Crown and Sacral beside it, and associated with inner knowing, emotional clarity and ideas that arrive as if lit from within.
Our practice holds it over the Third Eye, between the brows, with breaths of three counts in and three out and a short affirmation of trust in your own intuition. It tends to suit intuitive people who want to rely on their inner voice, or who feel out of touch with the softer, receptive side of themselves. The canon finds its brightness stirring, so in weeks when you feel jittery, overloaded or unmoored, choose something calmer.
We share these associations as tradition, not as a promise of results.

Pairings
What rainbow moonstone sits well with
From the KUSHA canon, the stones most often set beside it.
In the KUSHA canon, selenite always goes with a grounding stone, so add one such as smoky quartz or black tourmaline when you set the two together.
Kept apart from moldavite. The KUSHA canon never pairs moldavite with a Crown stone: together they can open too much at once.
A note of care
Before you use it
A bright, intuitive stone: set it aside when you feel very anxious, overstimulated or ungrounded.
Real or fake
Is my rainbow moonstone real?
Rainbow moonstone is the trade name for white labradorite, a feldspar close to moonstone. We sell rainbow moonstone as natural, and your lab certificate comes with your order.
- Its flash, usually blue, should come and go as you tilt the stone, over a pale, milky body.
- Most pieces carry small natural marks, such as thin dark lines or specks and faint internal cracks along the feldspar’s grain.
- Opalite, a glass sometimes sold as moonstone, glows bluish against dark backgrounds and amber against light ones, from every angle.
