Turquoise is porous, so keep it away from water, oils, perfume and cleaning sprays, which can stain or dull its colour. It is heavy for its size; lift it with both hands and keep it on a padded, stable surface. Dust it with a soft dry cloth, and for a traditional cleanse, leave it in moonlight on an indoor sill for one to two hours.
