Meaning

Fluorite meaning

Smelters once added fluorite to help ores melt and flow, which is how it got its name, from the Latin fluere, and the word fluorescence was later coined from it. If amethyst calms the mind and labradorite opens intuition, fluorite, as the canon puts it, organises the thinking itself: a cool, structured stone associated with sorting scattered thoughts and clearing mental fog. At the Third Eye chakra, its work is pictured as giving the mind edges, places where thoughts can finally land.

Nose-in, mouth-out breathing with the stone just above the centre of the eyebrows goes with the words “My mind organises. My path clarifies.” Students and professionals often keep it close, as does anyone whose mind feels scattered or overloaded, or who puts things off because everything feels jumbled. Warmth has to come before structure, the canon notes, so on low, flat or very tired days, or when you feel far from yourself, fluorite’s order can feel cold.

We share these associations as tradition, not as a promise of results.

Care

How to cleanse and care for fluorite

Best ways to cleanse it: Moonlight · Selenite plate · Smoke

How fluorite bears each cleansing method, and what our practice does
Method Can it bear it? In our practice
A brief rinse AvoidFluorite is soft and splits easily, so keep it dry. We skip it
A bed of salt AvoidSalt draws in damp, and fluorite is best kept dry. We skip it
Morning sun BrieflyLong direct sun can fade fluorite’s colours. Keep crystal balls out of direct sun: a polished sphere can focus light like a lens and scorch what is near it. We skip itOur practice keeps fluorite out of the sun.
Moonlight YesBy a window, for three to five hours only. We use it
Smoke Yes We use it
Sound Yes We use it
A selenite plate Yes We use it

We use it: named for this stone in our canon. Not usually: safe for the stone, but not a method we name for it. We skip it: our practice keeps it away.

Real or fake

Is my fluorite real?

We sell fluorite as natural, and your lab certificate comes with your order.

  • Coloured glass and resin copy fluorite, though they tend to look too clean.
  • Colour in genuine fluorite sits in zones with sharp, straight boundaries, and flat internal planes often catch the light like panes inside the crystal.
  • Being soft, it picks up small nicks along its edges with use, and many pieces glow blue or violet under a UV torch.

Fluorite, answered

Can fluorite go in water?

No. Fluorite is soft and splits easily, so keep it dry.

Can fluorite be cleansed on salt?

No. Salt draws in damp, and fluorite is best kept dry.

How do you cleanse fluorite?

In our practice, the best ways to cleanse fluorite are moonlight, a selenite plate and smoke.

What does fluorite mean?

Smelters once added fluorite to help ores melt and flow, which is how it got its name, from the Latin fluere, and the word fluorescence was later coined from it. Which chakra is fluorite linked with?

Fluorite is traditionally linked with the Third Eye chakra. In the KUSHA system, its element is air and its planets are Mercury and Neptune. We share these associations as tradition, not as a promise of results.

What does fluorite pair well with?
