Meaning

Rhodochrosite meaning

Rhodochrosite is a rose-pink manganese carbonate, often banded with paler pink and white, and its name joins the Greek words for rose and colour; it is also known as Inca rose. Among the KUSHA canon’s Heart stones it is one of the deepest, joining the Heart to the Sacral, the centres where old feelings are held and let go. Its territory is the inner child, the younger self whose feelings we carry into adult life, and the courage to feel what has long been set aside.

Two hands are part of its ritual: the stone at the heart, the other hand resting just below the navel, and a single sentence, “I release what my heart has carried alone.” Rhodochrosite asks for readiness, and suits people prepared for deep inner work who hold their feelings tightly, find vulnerability hard or are slow to trust. In fragile or overwhelming weeks, or in the middle of a heavy loss, the canon advises waiting, with rose quartz as a softer companion meanwhile.

We share these associations as tradition, not as a promise of results.

Real or fake

Is my rhodochrosite real?

We sell rhodochrosite as natural, and your lab certificate comes with your order.

  • Soft and fairly costly, rhodochrosite is copied in pink-dyed stone, glass, resin and reconstituted material made from crushed rhodochrosite bound with resin.
  • Natural banding runs in curving or zigzag lines of rose, raspberry and white, each band slightly different; neat, repeating stripes or a uniform candy pink are warning signs.
  • Reconstituted pieces show angular fragments set in a filler, like a mosaic.
  • Black veining rather than white banding means rhodonite, a different stone altogether.
