Meaning

Sodalite meaning

Its sodium content gave sodalite its name, and the stone is usually a deep royal blue veined with white. Sodalite sits at the meeting point of thought and feeling, steadying it where lapis would simply declare the truth; the canon calls this rational emotionality, a balance it links with calm reasoning, clear speech and quieter inner noise. It keeps company with two chakras, the Third Eye and the Throat: seeing clearly, and saying so.

Deep breaths with the stone against the forehead carry the canon’s two short lines, “My mind clears. My emotions align.” Spiralling thoughts, feelings that cloud judgement, a wish for calm and honest conversation, a need to rely on your own judgement: these bring people to sodalite. If you already keep feelings at arm’s length, lean hard on logic or feel detached, its steadiness can tip into rigidity, and the canon would look for warmth instead.

We share these associations as tradition, not as a promise of results.

Real or fake

Is my sodalite real?

We sell sodalite as natural, and your lab certificate comes with your order.

  • The confusion with sodalite usually runs the other way: it is the stone sold as lapis lazuli, rather than the one imitated.
  • Its blue leans royal to violet and comes with white veins, often bold, but rarely the gold flecks of pyrite that lapis carries.
  • White veins with a blue stain, or colour pooled in cracks, mean the piece has been dyed.
