Meaning
Peridot meaning
Peridot is gem olivine, one of the few gems that form deep in the earth’s mantle and reach the surface in volcanic rock, and its green runs from olive to bright lime. Traditionally associated with the Heart and Solar Plexus, it is reached for at fresh starts, when an old grievance is ready to be let go, and to lift the spirit after a hard stretch. It is also August’s birthstone.
A living room, a work desk or a prayer corner all suit it, our collection notes say, and its fresh colour makes it a thoughtful gift for an August birthday, a move or a new role. It sits among the gentlest stones in our notes, with no particular caution attached, so it is an easy first stone for someone new to crystals.
Not yet profiled in the KUSHA canon: these notes come from our collection notes and crystal tradition.

| Sound | Yes | Not usually |
| A selenite plate | Yes | Not usually |
We use it: named for this stone in our canon. Not usually: safe for the stone, but not a method we name for it. We skip it: our practice keeps it away.

Real or fake
Is my peridot real?
We sell peridot as natural, and your lab certificate comes with your order.
- Peridot’s green is olive to lime with a slightly oily shine, never the cool blue-green of emerald, and the stone is rarely heated or dyed.
- Green glass, the classic stand-in, shows round bubbles under a loupe, where peridot often holds tiny dark crystals or flat, round inclusions known as lily pads.
- In chips set in resin, each fragment should show that same olive tone with natural variation, rather than one bright, uniform green.
