Meaning

Sunstone meaning

Inside sunstone, a feldspar, lie countless tiny flat crystals, usually of hematite, which catch the light as a coppery glitter known as aventurescence. Radiant rather than forceful, it carries what the canon calls masculine energy, the outward and sunlit kind, and is associated with joy, warmth, charisma and confidence. Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras hold its warmth in the canon, which sees it kindling joy much as carnelian kindles movement.

With the stone held below the ribs and one deep inhale, its ritual is a single line: “My light returns.” The canon has it in mind for anyone feeling dimmed, drained or creatively dry, a little cold inside or out of touch with simple joy, so long as they are steady enough to welcome a lift. Heat is the caution here: in restless, irritable or overstimulated stretches, its fire can feed what is already burning.

We share these associations as tradition, not as a promise of results.

A selenite plate Yes We use it

We use it: named for this stone in our canon. Not usually: safe for the stone, but not a method we name for it. We skip it: our practice keeps it away.

Pairings

What sunstone sits well with

From the KUSHA canon, the stones most often set beside it.

Kept apart from citrine, hydro citrine, carnelian, tiger’s eye and pyrite. Both are warming activators, and KUSHA pairing law 14 rules out two activators in one set. Wear one at a time.

At home

Where not to keep sunstone

Better kept away from the entrance, bedroom, prayer corner and bathroom.

A note of care

Before you use it

A bright, warming stone: set it aside when you feel anxious, angry, overstimulated or overheated.

Real or fake

We sell sunstone as natural, and your lab certificate comes with your order.

  • Goldstone, a man-made glass full of copper crystals, is often sold as sunstone.
  • Its sparkle is dense and even, made of tiny triangles and stars that glitter from every angle.
  • Sunstone’s own glitter is irregular, often brightest at one particular tilt, set in a translucent orange to reddish-brown body.
