Meaning
Tanzanite meaning
Tanzanite is the blue to violet variety of zoisite, mined only in a small area near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the country whose name it bears. A birthstone for December, it is a Throat and Third Eye stone in crystal tradition, associated with quiet insight and with words chosen thoughtfully. It shares its mineral family with ruby zoisite.
Its colour shows best in daylight, so our notes favour a study, a meditation corner or the prayer corner, where it can be lifted and turned in an unhurried moment. Its calm character fits anyone who wants to pause before speaking and to listen closely, in conversation as much as in meditation.
Not yet profiled in the KUSHA canon: these notes come from our collection notes and crystal tradition.

Is my tanzanite real?
Almost all tanzanite is heated to bring out its violet blue, a standard and stable trade practice. We sell tanzanite as natural, and your lab certificate comes with your order.
- Turn it slowly: real tanzanite shows blue, then violet, sometimes with a flash of burgundy or bronze, a play of colour that glass cannot imitate.
- Coated quartz or topaz is sometimes offered in its place, and the coating may look worn or a different colour along the facet edges.
- Some convincing look-alikes need a gem laboratory to identify.
