Meaning
Rudraksha meaning
Rudraksha is not a stone at all but the hard, furrowed seed of the rudraksha tree’s fruit, honoured in Indian tradition for centuries. Rudra, a name of Lord Shiva, and aksha, eye, come together in its name, and the seed is closely bound to his worship. Our notes connect it with the Heart and Root, and it accompanies japa, the quiet repetition of a mantra, valued for a steadier mind and a resolve that does not waver.
It is worn as beads on the wrist, hung with clear quartz, or placed in the puja area, and the notes ask only that it be kept dry, away from perfume, and wiped with a soft cloth. It belongs with anyone who keeps a daily rhythm of prayer, mantra or quiet sitting. In Vedic astrology, such beads are worn on an astrologer’s advice.

Real or fake
Is my rudraksha real?
Rudraksha is a natural seed from the rudraksha tree, not a crystal or a stone. We sell it as seed, in plain words, and your lab certificate comes with your order.
- Genuine rudraksha has deep, uneven furrows, called mukhi or faces, running from end to end, a slightly rough surface and small differences from bead to bead.
- Imitations are carved from wood or moulded in plastic or resin, so look for wood grain, seams, beads that match too perfectly, or a smooth, light feel.
- Extra furrows are sometimes cut, or beads glued together, to pass off a rarer type, so the lines should run unbroken with no glue marks.
