Meaning
Iolite meaning
Named from the Greek ios, violet, iolite is the gem variety of cordierite, and its colour seems to change as you turn it in the hand. It has long been called the compass stone. In crystal tradition its place is the Third Eye and Solar Plexus, where it is linked with knowing which way to go and with attention that holds steady when there are many choices to weigh.
According to our collection notes it can be used daily in sessions of fifteen to thirty minutes, kept on a desk or a bookshelf close to your work, and rested through especially pressured weeks. It is meant for anyone weighing a decision or working steadily towards a defined goal. If dreams turn unusually vivid, the notes suggest shorter sessions, or a pause before you return to it.
Not yet profiled in the KUSHA canon: these notes come from our collection notes and crystal tradition.

Is my iolite real?
We sell iolite as natural, and your lab certificate comes with your order.
- Iolite has strong pleochroism, meaning its colour changes with the viewing direction: violet blue one way, pale grey or straw yellow when turned.
- Blue glass holds one colour from every angle and may show trapped bubbles under magnification.
- Iolite is seldom heated or dyed, so a deep, perfectly uniform blue that never shifts deserves a closer look.
