Meaning

Sulemani Hakik meaning

Sulemani Hakik is the traditional Indian name for black agate, a banded chalcedony, and the most admired pieces carry fine, clean banding. For generations it has been valued as a stone of self-restraint and a composed manner. Tradition ties it to the Root and the Solar Plexus, and to the keeping of clear, steady limits.

By long Indian custom it belongs at the threshold of a home, and it also appears in our collection notes as a bracelet and a sphere. It appeals to people who value a measured manner and want to hold their ground without fuss. That place at the door is a matter of tradition and composure, not a charm against harm.

Is my Sulemani Hakik real?

Black agate is very often dyed to deepen its colour, a long-standing and stable trade practice. Ask us what the piece you are choosing is before you buy; your lab certificate comes with your order.

  • Truly black agate is rare, so most is darkened by dyeing, a settled trade practice that leaves it every bit an agate.
  • The traditional look is fine bands, often white or grey lines on black, that follow the shape of the stone.
  • Against a strong light the thinnest edges may show a faint brown or grey, while resin or glass stand-ins are usually evenly black, with no banding at all.
